The last band concert of this school year is tonight at 8pm in the gym. We will be recognizing some fantastic student musicians also. Thank you to our seniors also for all that they have done over their four band years!
The last school day for students is Wednesday, May 22. School will be dismissed at 12:45pm that day.

In 2015 the world witnesses the following: The college football four-team playoff debuts with the Ohio State Buckeyes defeating the Oregon Ducks 42-20 in the championship game in Dallas on January 12. Apple debuts the Apple Watch on April 24. David Letterman broadcasts his final episode of The Late Show on May 20, ending his 22-year run as the host of the show. Two days later, 36 seniors bid farewell to Miller City High School at graduation. At Belmont Park on June 6, racehorse American Pharoah wins the Belmont Stakes to become the first Triple Crown winner since 1978. The first sequel to the original Star Wars trilogy, The Force Awakens, premieres in Hollywood theaters on December 14.

Spring Elementary Concert Update: Due to limited parking spaces in the north/main parking lot, parking will be available in all lots this evening for the Elementary Spring Program. That includes the north lot (main entrance), the east lot (baseball diamond), the southwest lot (church), and the west lot (youth soccer). All doors will be open for parent/student entry. Parking is prohibited along the main drive into the school.

In 2014 the world witnesses the following: As part of the early 2014 North American cold wave, an inordinate amount of record low temperatures are recorded on January 7 across the country, including -14 degrees Fahrenheit in Miller City. The Lego Movie is released in theaters on February 7. On March 8, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 inexplicably disappears somewhere over the Indian Ocean on its flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. CBS airs the final episode of the nine-season sitcom How I Met Your Mother on March 31. On May 16, 31 seniors graduate from Miller City High School. On July 11, LeBron James announces he is returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers after spending four years as a member of the Miami Heat. The new One World Trade Center building opens in New York City on November 3.

We continue our 100 Days, 100 Classes journey with the Miller City High School graduating class of 2013.
In 2013 the world witnesses the following: On April 15 in Boston, two large explosions occur near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The explosions claim the lives of 3 people and injure 260 more. 36 Miller City High School seniors receive their diplomas on May 17. Apple releases the iPhone 5s which has new features such as a fingerprint sensor and AirDrop. The series finale of AMC’s acclaimed Breaking Bad airs on September 29 and is watched by over 10 million people in the United States. On November 22, Disney Animation Studios releases its 53rd feature film, Frozen. The movie goes on to earn $1.28 billion worldwide.

We continue our 100 Days, 100 Classes journey with the Miller City High School graduating class of 2012.
In 2012 the world witnesses the following: On May 4, the sixth Marvel superhero movie The Avengers is released in U.S. theaters. Exactly two weeks later on May 18 in Miller City, Ohio, 39 seniors graduate from Miller City High School. In June the Miami Heat, behind Finals MVP LeBron James, defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games to claim the NBA Championship. Korean pop star Psy’s “Gangnam Style” is released on July 15 and becomes an overnight sensation on YouTube and the Billboard Hot 100. London plays host to the Summer Olympics in late July through early August. Team USA earns the most gold medals (48) and the most medals overall (104). The Eastern seaboard feels the wrath of Hurricane Sandy as the storm makes landfall primarily in the states of New York and New Jersey on October 29. A week later on November 6, President Barack Obama soundly defeats Republican challenger Mitt Romney to win his second term in office.

Congratulations to Miller City's HS track team. The boys finished 7th in the PCL track meet as Calvin Miller finished 2nd in the 1600 and 4th in the 3200. The girls finished 6th as Andrea Pfau won both the 1600 and 3200 and Josie Otto placed 5th in the 400 meter.

By the end of its final mission, the shuttle had clocked 365 days in space. On May 2, President Obama announces that Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda leader and mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks upon the United States, was killed by special U.S. forces during an operation in Pakistan. The fourth Marvel superhero movie Thor debuts in theaters on May 6. 31 seniors say goodbye to Miller City High School at the graduation ceremony on May 20. Five days later, Oprah Winfrey hosts the finale of her syndicated talk show, ending a 25-year run. NASA’s 30-year Space Shuttle program officially comes to an end on July 21 as the Atlantis touches down at Kennedy Space Center. The 9/11 National Memorial & Museum opens in New York City on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks upon the U.S. In that same city six days later, thousands of protesters march upon Wall Street to express their displeasure with high unemployment and extensive bailouts of the financial system. The movement comes to be known as “Occupy Wall Street.”

In 2010 the world witnesses the following: On January 12, a catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake strikes Haiti. An estimated 160,000 people are killed and monetary damages are approximately $8 billion. The first-generation iPad from Apple is released on April 3. In the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, BP’s oil rig Deepwater Horizon experiences an explosion aboard the ship, killing 11 workers and causing the rig to sink two days later. The offshore spill causes over 210 million gallons of oil to spill into the gulf. On May 21, 38 seniors receive their Miller City High School diplomas. Pixar releases Toy Story 3 in American theaters on June 18. On October 6, social media app Instagram officially launches. On cable television channel AMC, the science-fiction zombie-themed show The Walking Dead premieres fittingly on Halloween.

In 2009 the world witnesses the following: Shortly after takeoff US Airways Flight 1549, piloted by Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, is forced to ditch in the Hudson River near New York City on the afternoon of January 15. All 155 people aboard are rescued in an event later termed as the “Miracle on the Hudson”. In March, entrepreneurs Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick found ride-hailing service Ubercab, later known simply as Uber. A rebooted film version of Star Trek makes its theater debut in Austin, Texas on April 6. Miller City High School graduates 37 seniors on May 22. One week later, Pixar’s first 3D animated film Up premieres in theaters across the country. That same day, Johnny Carson’s replacement Jay Leno hosts his final episode of The Tonight Show ending his 17-year run as the host. In Los Angeles on the morning of June 25, pop music legend Michael Jackson is rushed to the hospital after becoming unresponsive at his home. Jackson is pronounced dead later that afternoon. The New York Yankees win their record 27th World Series title, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6 on November 4. Science fiction movie Avatar is released in theaters on December 18.
