Our Middle School SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) recently hosted a friendly “Food Fight” between our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students—with an incredible outcome!

Together, our students collected an amazing 835 pounds of food to support our local community. We’re proud to share that the 6th grade class came out on top, earning the most points in the challenge. As their reward, they had the opportunity to help load and deliver the donations to the Ottawa Thrift Store food pantry.

During their visit, students received a tour and learned more about how the pantry serves approximately 200 families each week, helping reduce food insecurity throughout our county. The staff expressed their sincere gratitude, sharing that these donations will help provide food for families for an entire week.

We are so proud of all our students for their generosity, teamwork, and commitment to making a positive impact. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a meaningful success!

Day two of the State FFA Convention began with General Session 4, where officers were recognized for earning a gold rating on their officer books. Keynote speaker Leah Amstutz shared a powerful message about the importance of agricultural education in today’s workforce. Miller City FFA members Blake (Secretary), Dylan (Treasurer), Payton (Assistant), and Alivia (Reporter) were all recognized on stage for the many hours they dedicated to achieving a gold rating! Members then had time to explore the expo, learning more about careers, colleges, and opportunities within the agriculture industry. The day wrapped up with General Session 5, where Carter Boyd delivered his retiring address and State FFA Degrees were awarded. The State Degree represents the hard work and dedication students put into their SAE and agricultural experiences, and fewer than 4% of members earn this honor. Miller City FFA is proud to have six State Degree recipients this year—congratulations to Alivia, Noah, Josie, Payton, Reagan, and Alivia!

The Miller City FFA Chapter kicked off their State Convention trip early Thursday morning! Members attended General Session 1, where agricultural educators were recognized, Ohio FFA talent took the stage, and keynote speaker Brad Hurtig shared an inspiring message about “finding a way.” Our chapter was honored to receive the Charitable Giving Award for donating over $500 back to our community this year. In the afternoon, two members participated in the State Officer Delegate Session, where they had the opportunity to vote on the 2026–2027 state officer candidates. Later, members attended General Session 2, where Dylan Schroeder was recognized for his Proficiency Award in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance–Entrepreneurship. The session concluded with guest speaker Jason Hewlett, who encouraged everyone to always find joy in what they do.

The 1st grade class had a scheduled field trip today to the Toledo Zoo. Shortly after arrival, Toledo Zoo officials announced that the zoo was closing and people must evacuate. We do not have any details at this time on why this decision was made. All of our students, staff, and chaperones are safely on the bus heading back to Miller City.
